Stair & Handrail Refurb – Lenzie
Completed in 2023 we stripped out the existing bannister and stair parts and replaced them with hardwood timber and glass panels.
The Brief
Our client was looking for a brighter and more modern look to their staircase and landing within their home. This involved removing the existing handrail & balustrades and replacing them with new locally sourced hardwood stair parts milled within our workshop in Kirkintilloch.
The Plan
Once the client has decided the overall design we take final measurements of the staircase before sourcing the timber, glass and fittings for the job. We use local timber merchants which allow to hand pick each piece off timber to best suit the nature of the project.

The Build
Once the timber arrived at our workshop, we started the milling process to prepare it for use within the project. This included cutting the timber to size and moulding the glazing beads to hold the glass in place. Each part of the staircase was created by us in our workshop, this allowed us full control over the details such as the position of the grain on the staircase, size & style of the newel caps and any other options open to us.
The Finish
To protect the wood we applied a mid-oak stain and clear satin lacquer. Not only does this improve the durability of the timber against finger prints it provides an enhanced finish which keeps it looking fresh.

The Install
Once we were ready for installation we removed the existing handrail and balustrades and cladded the newel posts with the new timber once this is completed the glass is carefully secured in place.
The Result

Our client was delighted with the final result and can now enjoy a brighter and more modern staircase which was custom made to their specification.
